Abstract

Teaching Indonesian to Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA) at the beginner level (A1) often faces challenges in integrating basic vocabulary mastery with authentic cultural contexts. This Community Service activity aims to implement the traditional game "Engklek" as an interactive learning medium to enhance the understanding of numbers and simple instructions for A1 BIPA students at Thammasat University, Thailand. The implementation method consisted of three stages: preparation (licensing consolidation and concept finalization), implementation (material presentation and practical workshops), and evaluation via questionnaires. The results indicated that the use of Engklek significantly improved students' memory retention of numbers 1-10 and accelerated the understanding of verbal instructions through kinesthetic activities. Beyond the pedagogical impact, this activity contributes to the achievement of Higher Education Key Performance Indicators and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships), to strengthen the spirit of global citizenship. This service concludes that traditional games are effective and adaptive media for the internationalization of Indonesian language and culture on a global stage.
