This community service activity aims to improve road
safety, especially in rural environment roads with minimal
lighting, trough the installation of road reflectors. The program is
designed to reduce the risk of night traffic accidents, by increasing
the visibility of road signs, barriers, and vulnerable points.
Its achievement targets include the installation of
reflectors in strategic locations as well as increasing public
awareness of the importance of passive safety elements on the road.
Implementation follows a definitive step. Starting with surveying
and mapping of accident-prone points. The approach used is
education and direct action is continued with simple installation.
Reflectors are mounted on marker posts in places with potential
hazards.
The main output is the installation of 10 reflectors in at
least 5 points of prone location. Monitoring results showed
significant improvement in visibility of roads at night.
The installation of reflectors proved effective as low-tech
interventions but had a high impact on improving the safety of
environmental roads. This activity provides immediate benefits in
the form of a safer road environment.
